Reading

  • While the majority of texts you use for your studies are likely to be journal articles and book chapters, you may initially select less academic sources (for example, Wikipedia) to gain a more general insight into a topic. You may also choose to read texts in your first language; however, all the sources you refer to in your Extended Essay (EE) must be published

Reading strategies

  • In order to complete academic reading tasks, you possibly read using different reading strategies depending on what you were being asked to read for. Having a range of basic reading strategies can help you read more efficiently and effectively because you can adapt how you read depending on what you want from a text.

Analysing an assignment task

  • One of the most important stages of the assignment writing process is to first understand the task. If you do not answer the question set in an assignment or exam essay, you will fail that assessment regardless of the quality of your written English. For the Extended Essay, one criterion you will be assessed on is Task Fulfilment – whether you have answered the assessment question correctly and comprehensively.

如果题目中让你discuss, 你就需要去谈论优势,比较. 避免非学术性的词汇, 并不是说这些词不好只是说,在某些场景下更有用.

学术写作没有绝对的对错. 需要有一些发展性的思想, 批判性的思想,开放性思维, 和自己专业相关, 创造性思维,扩展观点.
